These photos by Chris Heads from the new Pig Magazine make absolutely no editorial sense to me. Best I can gather is they're a voyeuristic take on facebook photos. But their appeal is unquestionable and what fashion there is is pretty on the dot. I think I'm going to look into this Chris Heads fellow and report back a little more later. In the meantime have a few laughs at how much the below resembles all our online profiles.

If Christophe Decarnin and Raquel Allegra made sweet love Emma Rea would pop out 9 months later. Ok, kind of gross analogy, but with the edge of the former and the romantic deconstruction of the latter it felt absolutely necessary. These pieces remind me of Jane Birkin in the 60's so quietly and skillfully stealing the scene from her Rock Star boyfriend.

It's sunny and 75 degrees in Los Angeles so I'm pleased to know that if Im still rocking the occasional leather legging I can toss a spring dress and some color over it.

Yes! The title of this post comes from a third-eye-blind song. And No! I'm not embarrassed by that. Lately, sigh, lately I've been pretty fashion jaded. I'm not finding much inspiration in photo shoots and styling, I thought the Met Gala might change that for me, but alas it did not. So, rather than scour the boards for something passable to post, I decided to go back to 2005 when Steven Meisel executed what is still in my mind the top shoot (at least conceptually) of this millennium. I'm sure you all know it but cheers to it anyhow. It's so well styled, the layout is so original and the girls are pulling their weight in every shot. Also, this was four and a half years ago and both the fashion and celebrity commentary remain right on the nose. God I love good fashion editorials. I love them so much I could cry sometimes. Enjoy!

Art and models haven't been this literally combined since Lucien Freud painted a preggers Kate Moss. Identical twin brothers Taiwo and Kehinde Adeniji recently ordered up some beauties, Alys, Imogen, Thea and Lydia below, from london agencies and rendered them in these ethereal vintage palettes. Gorgeous I think, reminiscent of Freud, Schiele and a really good Laura Mercier ad.

Hedi Slimane not only poured indie rockers into tight jeans, inspired Lagerfeld to lose a few dozen pounds and brought mixtape rock back to the runway, he also takes beautiful pictures! Shooting only (i think) in black and white, his work is always modern romantic and on the young and burnt out side. Think Ryan McGinley meets Nan Kempner meets Mario Sorrenti. Raise your glasses kids.

I don't normally love the fashion editorials in Teen Vogue, but a great spread by Thomas Schenk caught my eye this month. The confluence of Tracy Feith for Target, Pierre Hardy's neoprene shoes and jumpsuit-mania have me all up in surf-fashion's face. 'Wave Riders' captures it brilliantly in flawless color and proportion. Btdubs, I'm totally vibing TeenV's effort at more abstract styling and photos that speak to readers more than advertise the clothes. I mean, it's the least they could do after that God-awful Miley cover.

I can't tell if Isabel Lucas is a great dresser or just really, really good looking. Either way it's refreshing to see a starlet with a penchant for patterns and flats over stiletto/jeans combos. I've always thought there was a lot to be said for over-accessorizing and I think turquoise jelly bracelets and headscarfs happily fit the bill. This girl's a-ok in my book.

There are a lot of young artists who are fashionable. Dress well, date models, inspire Marc Jacobs. But in my mind few have the branche sensibilities of Elizabeth Peyton. It's not that her subjects are so well dressed or that she's a party circuit darling. It just strikes me that if she were to take photographs they'd straddle the line between foreign fashion magazine shoots and museum shows. And I'm sure she'd be all over the bloody blogosphere.

Screw McQ. Okay, blasphemous I know, but I was so not into his Target line. Sometimes I think designers who are used to working with high end materials can't cut a piece of polyester to save their lives. On The Other Hand, Mr. Tracy Feith, my all time favorite girl-named, hottie, surfer/designer has a Target, Go International line coming out next month that looks SENSATIONAL! I'm so over indie rock, THIS is what I want to look like this summer.

I've been a huge fan of his since violent NY Sample sales in 2001 and can only assume the line has been overlooked because of McQ. This guy knows how to work simple materials. In fact I don't think I've ever seen a pic of him where he's wearing shoes. Check out some of the casual gorge'ness.

So topping the list of summer objects of desire is this sheer dolman sleeve wrap by Anzevino and Florence. Still, summer of jumpsuits I'm craving this UO denim jumper, Rachel Pally cape dress, and Bebe (yes Bebe) one shoulder floral dress which I can't find anywhere in my size.

And what the hell, let's top the all off with Dolce Vita peep toe buckle wedges, which I wish were a little more distressed, but will be when I'm done with them.

Madisyn Ritland is part old bird lady, part baby doll and the clothes have a new boho styling to them, like a little girl getting dressed out of her mother's closet. The colors, the fabrics, the clothes are all over the top and I love it.

With the exception of the holy grail that is Balmain, there aren't too many collections I'm wild about right now, however being a naturally greedy little creature, I have found 2 that fill me with covetousness.

In a season of tweed and black satin leather, it's helps to be French. Isabel Marant can work her some basics like only un very stylish fille can. Her boyfriend culottes come off as casual and boyfriend-y (so many lines have made them look ridiculous) and she tailors sweatshirt material and chiffon with the same amount of reverence. A beautiful collection.

The way Izzy Marant rocks her gallic roots, Philip Lim (who I've met loads of times and has never failed to be uber friendly) is distinctly American. However he doesn't execute his patriotism in an obnoxious Michael Kors way. Instead he draws upon the trends of the eras, from flappers to carpetbaggers, to Ali MacGraw, it's a Americana that is just costumey enough to indicate US arrogance but just modern enough to recognize globalized fashion. Screw tweed, I want a maribou coat.

Thanks to Azria's comeback helming Leger and the 90's glam renaissance, boho style and waistless empire frocks are fading fast. In layman's terms, the 'slutty dress' is back.

Went to the Tea Party / Opening Reception for Space 1520 - the new Urban Outfitters / Art Retail Venture (that's right) in LA. Basically UO has leased a lovely big building in Hollywood and is divying out the spaces to cool restaurants or retailers who they think fit their aesthetic. The space is terrific and though I was having too much fun to snap pictures, I did pull a few off line.

The party also featured a performance by Haunted Graffiti, who I didn't love but here, you be the judge. And a samantha Pleet pop up store, which I did kind of love. Especially as I spotted my silly old friend Andrew posing as a model in her catalogue.

Today I lost my beloved pieced floral tunic to a horrible wire hanger incident, ugliness unseen since Joan Crawford's heyday. Proud to vote, I decided to dress in the vein of a 70's collegiate barrier breaker - kept it subtle though because I had a writers meeting this morning. Yes, that probably sounds silly, but you know what, I'm proud to be a girl who cares about fashion AND about politics.

As much as I like Obama, I was pretty bummed about Hilary, not just that she didn't get the nod, but that she was referred to as a "bitch" or a "lesbian" not only by her male opponents but by her female opponents. Look at Carla Bruni in France of Ciccolina in Italy, when will we realize that being clever, being attractive, being proud and being woman are not mutually exclusive things. I can't wait to see the next female candidate for president and I hope she's not afraid to be a bitch or look good or both. Check it out, bitches. Yeah, I said it.

UGH, Grey skies and drizzle, I would have stayed in london for this! Despite a bit of fun on Halloween and an extra hours sleep last nigh, this weekend has been slightly BLAH. Thought I'd take advantage of stay-at-home blues to channel Camille and DIY something, so I went for the Alexander Wang Boyfriend-esque shorts.
